Default LED Lighting?

I just bought an SCX TR bumper for a build Im doing so I dont have any leds for the light buckets yet. I kind of get the idea how they pop in and everything my main question is do you have to have a 3 channel radio to run them or do they tie in and feed off of the channel that runs to your ESC?

I have a TQ3 laying around if need be but I was just curious. It was converted for rear steer also so Im not sure it would even work for this anyway.

if you don't wire a switch in-line they will just pull power from the rx. if you want to be able to turn them on and off with the radio, you will either need some sort of controller box or a micro servo and a momentary switch like people are using for dig switches.

and it just pulls off channel three then so a 3 channel receiver and 2 channel transmitter will work? Ive got a bunch of old Traxxas stuff laying around.

You only need a 3 channel receiver if you want to have the lights controlled by the radio. Otherwise they will just plug into the batt slot on the rx and will be on anytime the rx has power.
