| I'd think a 2s would be safe, but a 3s could be pushing it... I guess it would depend on the c rating of the Lipo too. Look @ the date on the tower specs- 10/7/97, that is when it was new & they added it to their site.... 13yrs old. I woudn't trust it.... We could have some fun, and you could perform a video test, and start a poll!! Will my duratrax streak ESC handle 3s.... Last edited by R/CMaxximus5.0; 04-15-2010 at 12:21 PM. |

I have four Streak ESC's and none of them will give up the ghost, regardless of the fact that the newest one is six years old. If you don't need reverse than I think that they are an excellent all around speed controller. I have run one of them in and E-maxx, to replace the original EVX, and it was the coolest running electrical component on the truck, even though I waterproofed it by sealing it in Goop. I think that the Streak is way underrated, as I've done horrible things (like twelve cells on a Kyosho "Atomic Force" 17T overgeared in a Rustler. Melted the solder off of the motor, melted shrinkwrap on batts, ESC barely warm, but boy was it fast...) to them and they won't stop working. I have gotten a few of them wet, and after drying out they work like new every time. They have a "traction" knob that seems to operate like a current limiter. It saves wear and tear on the brushes during WOT takeoff and slightly increases runtime, if you use it at its lower settings. It also has selectable "ABS" braking that switches the brakes on and off very quickly. It doesn't make a huge difference but you'll notice that a rear wheel drive is a little more stable under full brake. I don't forsee any problems running it off of a 3 cell lipo, other than there is no low voltage cutoff. |

Umm, just about everything R/CMax said is not exactally correct... 1st: 3s lipo nominal is 11.1volts, 12.60volts charged. Thats not pushing it at all it can handle 300amps! Just need Lipo cut-off. 2nd: The "C" rating on the battery would have nothing to do with potentially damaging the speedo. When you run a truck the speedo tells the battery what it needs (Volts/Amps) not the battery. 3rd: The outdated spec doesn't matter what so ever. Speedos don't magically change specs over time.... I'm not trying to be an as* here R/CMax I just needed to clarify this. And I'll take you up on that $1.00 bet, Speedo wins. Last edited by Blood_Clod; 04-15-2010 at 11:59 AM.

I thought the c rating was the "burst" rating...? (high c rating more "burst" power) As far as the specs being out dated-specs are the same- but it doesn't change the fact the ESC was possibly new 13years ago-that was my point. (it was released new 13yrs ago) & he got it used. Last edited by R/CMaxximus5.0; 04-15-2010 at 12:29 PM.
