I bumped the two leads on the battery... Is it toast? I think so, any chance its not? Should I leave it on the front step of my house over night? DAMN!!! Anyone think it could blow up? (sry noob) Thanks, Ryan |

Ryan, Just bumping your leads for a brief period won't kill your battery. Just separate them and make sure they can't touch again an you should be fine. M |

If you just shorted it out for a second or two, that's not enough to cause catastrophic failure. It's a good idea to let it sit outside, away from flammables, under a bucket for a while, but 99% of the time they are fine.

I did the same thing to a lipo pack once. The cells were fine but the balance board on the end shorted. Carefully remove the shrink wrap and check the cells and the board on the end. If the board shorted then you can build a bridge over the shorted spot with solder. Mine worked well for a long time after that. It was a brand new pack too. Make sure the cells are not puffed either. Another good tip for replaced plugs on batterys is cut the wires one at a time. I know of some people that have cut the leads at the same time with side cutters and did some damage. |
