Default Is the 3A Mamba BEC good enough?

How far will I get with this setup on a MMP, 3A at 6V? Is that going to be enough to power a high torque servo or is it not worth bothering with on a 1.9 crawler? Obviously Hitec doesn't know how many amps the servo will draw, but I guess it's when it's in a bind that it can exceed the BEC instead of turning the wheels.

What happens when the servo draws more than the BEC can handle? Does it just lose power, or can it damage the ESC?

Are there any servos out there that can take 6-8V directly from the battery?

What servo?

If you talking about a 7955 or 7950, then no, you will probably need a CC BEC.

From what I have seen, they just shut down for a second or the servo just stalls.

Some servo's will handle around 7 to 8 volts but you have to remember that a 7.4v peaks at over 8v. I have not ran 2s in a while but I know my 3s (11.1v) peaks at 12.62v.

There are robotic servos that use straight up 2s Lipo power. There are even some that take 12v.
Be careful that they understand hobby RC signals though.

Thanks, I guess what I'm getting at is, if it can't handle a 795x, would whatever servo it could handle be fine for crawling? I'm trying to figure out if this ESC is building something around or not.

3amp is tiny for a bec, the rooster crawler is 6v 5amp, .. castle esc are great! just add an external one, if you never plan to run brushless get a HH torque master, its basically a brushed onler version of a mambamax, but it has a built in bec thats good
