Any problems hooking it up? or is straight forward like the other types of esc's?

I'll be putting it in my clod tuber think it will handle the extra weight. I will running a 4th servo to change suspensions in a bind don't think it will effect an esc but its worth mentioning.

So far so good. I have several packs through it w/ no problems to date. One button set up is very simple. Not sure it will handle another servo, unless you run a receiver pack?

A 4th servo? Most only have 3. What is the 3rd one for?

I will have 4ws and the 4th is for a concept to assist the suspension when you get into a tight spot. I'm still working out the bugs but when I get the tube work all finished I will post a build. Then you all can flame me or just be in awe at what awsom work I've done with it . I actually don't know if it will work but I will only be out about $20 for break line if it doesn't and I can always use the 4th channel for a winch or something.

after looking around on ebay for Moped ESC's like yours, I noticed that the two higher end models (V16 Super and V16 Plus, as opposed to the V16R which you purchased) mention that they use Hexfet technology... eg, MOSFETs from International Rectifier:
http://www.irf.com

while they don't mention using hexfets on the V16R, it would be intersting to see what they -did- use, especially if it could be looked up on IR's website... so would you be interested in prying the cover off of your ESC, and either taking high-res pics so we can read the Part#'s off of the mosfets, or just typing up all the part#'s yourself?

it would be pretty interesting to see what it can actually handle... the motor current specs they list on ebay aren't exactly useful.

thanks... i'm sorely tempted to buy one of these things to play with, i'll probably break down and do it soon... so if you don't fancy opening up your ESC, don't sweat it.

on another note, in that newbie thread where you posted recomending this ESC.. I think you linked to the wrong one.. you linked to the 1/18 scale version, not the version you have in your pictures.

I was looking at that also. This is what I got from the ebay listings.
Moped V16r Specs. (Forward/Reverse)
Input Voltage: 4.8v-8.4v (4-7cells)
"ON" resistance: 0.00056 OHM
Impulse Current of MOSFET: 70A
PWM Frequency: 2k - 4KHz
BEC output voltage: 5.0v (2A)

V16 Plus. Specs. (Forward/Reverse)
RDS in OHM at 25* C: 0.000032
Impulse Current of MOSFET: 1980A
PWM frequency: 2KHz - 4KHz
Turns for 10 - 36 turns motor
BEC output voltage: 5.0V (3A)

And the V16r Super (Forward only)
Same as the Plus. But it doesn't have reverse.

Well 4ws only requires 2 servos. Thats 2 servos, plus the one for the suspension makes 3. So yeah, thats only 3, unless I'm missing something.

That would be correct.
I'll be ordering mine in a day or two.
Thanks for the info.

alright, let me see if I can sort out the different models... it looks like there are 4 different models currently on ebay, they are a little difficult to sort out really, not a good naming scheme at all.. here goes:

Model -
V16R 1/18 Scale

Specifications -
"ON" resistance: 0.00056 ohm
Impulse current of MOSFET: 70A
PWM frequency: 2K-4KHZ
BEC output voltage: 5.0V (2A)
Forward/brake/reverse

Ebay -
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=6047224953

Model -
Bravo V16R

Specifications -
(RDS ON) in OHM at 25 °C: 0.000032
Impulse Current of MOSFET's:1980A
PWM Frequency:2KHz - 4KHz
Turns: For 10 - 36 Turns Motor
BEC O/P Voltagee: 5.0V (3A)
Forward/brake/reverse

Ebay -
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=6048184094

Model -
Super V16

Specifications -
(RDS ON) in OHM at 25 °C: 0.000032
Impulse Current of MOSFET's:1980A
PWM Frequency:2KHz - 4KHz
Turns: For 8 - 36 Turns Motor
BEC O/P Voltagee: 5.0V (3A)
Forward/Brake

Ebay -
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=5972444587

Model -
Plus V16

Specifications -
(RDS ON) in OHM at 25 °C: 0.000028
Impulse Current of MOSFET's: 2350A
PWM Frequency:2KHz - 4KHz
Turns: For 7 - 36 Turns Motor
BEC O/P Voltagee: 5.0V (3A)
Forward/Brake

Ebay -
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=5972565894

alright, so having had to get all that together, i now see the pattern.. i hadn't noticed earlier, but the two ESC's I was calling "higher end" are actually both forward only. all the reversable ESC's have "R" on the end of their name.. duh...

so it's just:
V16R = 1/18 scale w/ only 70A
Bravo V16R = normal reversing ESC w/ higher amps

and:
Super V16 = normal forward only
Plus V16 = better forward only

@Double_J: make sure are looking at the actual names on the ESC's in the pictures.. the auction titles are misleading.

@dezfan: thanks, links are above of course.. turns out there are no higher end models (at least for crawling purposes), just forward/brake ESCs. should definitly be intersting to see what you come up with when you open yours. if these things can handle some abuse, I may pick up 2 (of the one you got) in order to run a pair of 10 or 12 turn modifieds... i did notice that this seems to be the same size as novak's XRS Reversible Sport, which boasts -much- lower specs.. including both amperage (40A) and turn limit (15t)... anyway, sorry for the long post, hope someone finds the specs above useful.

so with this delay business, how does the "smart braking" on the features list figure into the delay?

Hmm, thanks I am going to run this also, It will be easy to put into a smaller tray from radioshack too. Very good for scalers too.

sorry for being thick, I want to make sure I'm following you here: when you say that the brake kicks in after you let off the throttle... do you mean it's a "drag brake," or do you mean that it's a double-pump style brake?

thanks.

oh, and while i'm here... a mildly interesting turn of events:

http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/defaul...ort=1a&&page=2

about 2/3 of the way down the page, RC Mart (based in HK btw) has both the "Bravo" and the "1/18" models... so people who dislike ebay could order from there I suppose, although you'll pay a few dollars more. The important thing is that RC Mart lists the Bravo (red) model as 125A, which seems much more realistic, and a more usefull number.

@cockeyed00... you should probably have looked it up yourself, especially since there are now several easy to follow links in this thread, but according to the specs listed in most places, they handle 4-7 cells.
