| BEC Question - help !!
On my LCC recently installed a Tekin RS with a CC BEC. I wire the + and - from the BEC to the + and - battery posts on the ESC. Removed middle wire from the esc. Plugged BEC and ESC in to RX - all good. BEC set to 6.0V. First run - after 30 -45 mins LCC stopped, I said Oh Well 1300mah lipo is dead. Got home. 11.6V on the Lipo!! When I plugged in battery - it says no radio connection. BEC still connected. Remove BEC plug from ESC - plug back in middle wire on ESC - all good. Question. STill have + and - wires from BEC soldered to + and - on battery posts. If I measure voltage on the BEC connector that is hanging loose. I get 0.0 V. SHoud I see something at the BEC connector?? Do BECs die ?? Last edited by bbking9; 06-12-2012 at 03:13 PM. |

I did test at the connector - 0.0V. Just never heard of a BEC going bad. |

They did have a bunch go bad at the beginning of last year for no apparent reason, but they replaced most of those as far as I know. Try recalibrating it with the castle link then test again, if it's still showing nothing then get in touch with Castle and they should swap it under warranty. |

I got it at my LHS - I think he can just send it back to them and give me a new one.

The list of burnt up bec's is far too long... Castle's bec's aren't what they use to be!!! I have had 4 burn up on me in 1 month, so I have contacted them and they told me I did something wrong and are not going to warranty any of them. I told them that I had the exact same set-up before just switched out the bec cause I needed it elsewhere. Hooked a brand new one up dead instanly. Go get another and hook it up last 5 mins and takes out one of my fxr's. Replace fxr and bec and was good for a month then it took out my servo. Took the original one I had in the truck and put it back in still going strong( 6 months). Put the new one in the other rig and well its dead now. So if I did something wrong then why is the old one still good and the new ones die? Castle's quality (IMO) has gone down hill!!! But were kinda stuck cause no one else makes a programable bec. |

I had one burn up on me... literally short flames out of it. Castle said to just send it in but I haven't yet... |

I wouldn't run without one but I would hook it direct to the servo. That way if its gonna take something it will be your servo and not your esc. I have switched all my rigs to direct as I can get my hitec servos serviced pretty fast locally but if I need my esc serviced I'm sending it in and waiting!!!

I have mine soldered directly to the servo. Red and wire from servo soldered directly to the BEC. Orange wire from the servo plugs into receiver. Note* Avoid Salt water, dipped my BEC in a saltwater puddle and it toasted the Servo. Puddle was less than an inch deep just got unlucky |

Glad to hear it was that easy for you. Hope this one lasts a while. My LHS makes me send everything to the company to have it warrantied.
