Holmes Hobbies Pro handwounds or Team Brood Creep Type T ? I need 2 high end motors for my XR-10. Which is a better motor and why. I already know they are both great, Im just looking for feedback on the differences. Any experience about either motors will be helpful. Thanks guys. |
twister's i run 45 twister's i like em"thumbsup" |
very few people will be able to give a solid answer on this, most go with one and havent tried the other, so they are biased. from what i read, its a toss up, either will be and excelent choice. |
Well I have drain both and I will only run Holmes motors in my trucks. I know some will say imam Biased cause I am a driver for him but I would have said the same thing 3 years ago. I actually just pulled set of 35t quad mag broods out of Nova's Arks rig this weekend and put in a set of holmes 35t's. All he could say was WOW when he started driving it. He had way more power than he had ever had with the broods he was using. I have a feeling he will be running Holmes motors from here on out. "thumbsup" |
The Br00d has a 4 magnet can, so it should have a slightly smoother start up. Holmes uses a 5 mm web arm, it will have slightly more torque than the Br00d 4 mm arm, but the Br00d would have the slight RPM advantage. I think it's safe to say it could come down to personal choice, but notice Br00d has more than one option for his motors. |
I have been running Holmes Torque Masters 30t for quite some time now and I am very happy with them and dont plan on changeing anytime soon. |
While I am not going to get into this at all, as these threads just turn into bashing wars.....just want to correct a couple things... I only use 4mm arms in 45t and up motors.....all of my testing has shown they benefit from the additional RPM and overall power a 4mm arm makes vs the 5mm. I use 5mm arms on all my 35t and 40t....they seem to like the extra torque and being a little more efficient helps. One of the keys to using handwounds is taking care of them.....actually cleaning them, cutting the comm and changing the brushes as they wear out........ Later EddieO |

Personally, if you're going with Br00d, I'd look at the R/T version. |
I sure hope my thread doesn't turn into a bashing war. Thanks for the info so far. As I stated at the top I know these two models are top notch and I'm more interested in finding the best motor for my XR-10. If the creep has a little less torque it might fit the light weight of the XR10 nicely. On the other hand who doesn't want more torque . |
I picked up a set of the matched 45t brood motors to go in my xr10. i contacted holmes and brood at the same time and found that brood had the matched sets available (i got the last one) and had never tried his products but had heard great things about them. i decided to give them a whirl...but will be receiving my xr10 tomorrow and havent been able to do any testing. i had a pair of holmes 45t in my berg that i no longer have and had great experiences with them and was very pleased with the power output and control. ill see if i can tell a difference and determine if i can place an honest vote later. fyi the matched sets have 2 magnet cans versus the 4 magnet version |
1 Attachment(s) the brood/twisters motors got me one last win pulled em out and  |

Holmes Hobbies........"thumbsup""thumbsup" |
While it looks like a brush exploded and chipped the comm, though it could of been a rock or something.....arm is toast. I don't think thats a brood arm though, at least the way the pic looks. The arm appears to be soldered not welded.... I only made certain teardowns for CKRC.....if it was a chrome can, thats a Fantom made motor....if it was a 4 magnet can, light gold color, I made them those. I don't think I shipped them any chrome can stuff. Later EddieO |
Yeah, that arm looks soldered. |

I've ran Holmes 540 handwounds, Holmes cobalt pullers, and right now I got 35t r/t warriors, from jp customs. And I have ran many other motors, no broods though (unless them warriors are broods), for personal reasons, anyways Holmes motors are by far better than anything I have run, in fact his esc is also the best esc I have used. |
Pretty much common knowledge the Warrior motors are all built by me..... Later EddieO |
Eddie, How do your motors of today compare to the old Warrior motors of say 2-3 years ago? I got one of the earlier warrior motors and thats been the best motor I've had!! |
