| Recommend a no modify radio....
To control a Vanquish 3 position dig, standard steering and standard throttle. I do not want to modify the radio to get all 3 positions out of the dig! I prefer 2.4 ghz. I am looking around $100 to $150. What do you have and what do like/not like about it????

Hi there , i don't know much about radio but for around 100 - 150 $ i think people would tell you to get this: Look like guys are happy with it http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/spm3160.htm I was looking at this for my scaler : RC4WD XR4 4-Channel 2.4Ghz . 3rd and 4th channel 3 position switch would be good for winch and lights . But i think for the dig you need EPA on the 3rd channel ???? http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/rc4z-r0006.htm Cant find a lot of info on it ( if it good or not ) There a lot of helpful guys on here that know way more than me , i'm pretty sure they will help you out. |

Yea in that price range you are looking at the DX3E. You could go with one of the rc4wd radios but they do not have epa's on 3 and 4 so using them for a mechanical dig isnt optimal. You could also look for a used DX3R, they pop up every once in a while for 150-200 bucks. |

There really are only a few radios I know of that are 2.4/3 channel/3 position 3rd channel switch/epas on all channels. The dx3 (not dx3.0) is discontinued but they pop up used once and a while. The dx3e is pretty basic and only one model memory but only $100 too. My favorite is the 3pmx. Some folks don't like the interface but it is just a great crawler (or any) radio at $170 and come up used for less. The Ko propo ex5 is also around that price and comes with two receivers but has little support. The dx3r is the standard but kind of pricey for what ya get imho. The receivers are cheaper than futaba though. Then there is the 3pk which will do almost anything and of course the 4pk. Futaba is coming out with lower line 2.4 3 and 4 channel radios soon?

Like oldhippie said, the DX3E is fairly basic, but it will get the job done. My only gripe, now that I'm using the 3rd channel, is the location of the 3rd channel button. A couple local guys are running futaba radios (can't remember which model just now) and they seem to work pretty well, but I'd imagine are a little out of your price range. Honestly, you might be best off saving a lil longer to get a nicer TX to save you from having to upgrade later. |
