Hazardous shipping fee?

The battery store I've done business with before charges an extra fee for shipping Lithium Batteries. Is this common with most places ? I was going to purchase some Lipo's but the fee greatly increases the price.

I've never been told I there was a charge for buying Lithium batteries from any of the shops/places I buy batteries from..

It depends on the lithium content that is being shipped. Anything containing equivalent lithium content under 1.5g per cell and 8g per pack can be mailed via USPS, anything more must go via UPS or similar private carrier. Again, depending on the lithium there may or may not be hazmat. The conversion is .3g lithium per amp hour of one cell.

What size cells and how many are being shipped?

Or order through Hobby City so they can bounce them through Singapore and skirt UN and USA laws  They got shut down for it once, and now they just use a shill business name and claim the items as test equipment.

Good to know. I ordered lithium batteries from them before, but that was awhile ago. I was just surprised to see this. I was going to order a couple of 7.4 packs and a charger.
The weird thing is there not to far from me and they don't cater to local pickups. I've been there once due to a a faulty pack and I needed it the following day for a 24 hour MTB race so they made the exception for me to come there.
