Default Lipo problems

I have a 2s lipo 1250 mah, with a brand new Novak s2 cutoff installed in my crawler. I have balanced and charged the lipo using my venom charger/balancer. The cutoff shuts the crawler down after a few seconds of driving. Throw the lipo on the charger and it's still full. What could be causing the cutoff to be turning off the crawler before the battery is discharged? I also had the same battery in my ax10 with a sidewinder esc set to 2s (with castle link) and it only lasted about 5-7 minutes. Is it possible my lipo is junk?

It's possible you have a bad cell in the 2S pack. What is the low voltage cutoff voltage set in your electronics?? Maybe it's set too high??

1-Is it a Venom Charger, or a Venom Pro Charger?
2-What is your charger set to, to end the charge (maybe it's too low?)
3-Are you running a big servo without an external BEC?

It's a Venom Pro, I set it to 2s. I am not aware if I could set it to a higher voltage while on a 2s. Both cells read out at 4.2V when balanced. The servo is a 645 hitec run right of the esc.

I tried a 3s just to see, it's the only other battery I have. And the low voltage light is on from the beginning as well. Any thoughts? Maybe an incompatability with my ESC?

Most ESC's have an adjustable low voltage cutoff. Maybe your's is set too low?

I am positive my esc doesn't have a cutoff, it's an el cheapo rs10 esc. It's definitely the Novak that's shutting the truck down. The blue warning LED flashed and it cuts the throttle off but the steering servo still works. If I can't get it to work as is I will just switch back to NiMH batteries.

Have you set up the s2 cut-off?

Smart-Stop Programming--Sets transmitter’s neutral point into Smart-Stop. ESC should already be set-up &
programmed to your transmitter (One-Touch on Novak ESCs). Motor won’t run during set-up.
With a charged battery pack in vehicle & transmitter turned ON:
Press & Hold the Smart-Stop’s push button (under heat shrink) then turn on ESCs power switch-
-continue holding button until the Red LED comes on solid, then release button.
Go to Full-Throttle position with transmitter & hold until the Green LED comes on solid, then
return to Neutral.
The Green LED will flash, then the Red LED will come back on, indicating that the Smart-Stop is programmed
& ready.

Have you checked the voltage of the pack with anything other than the charger? Sounds like it isnt charged...

I run the same 2-cell smart stop in my Yokomo drift with a Novak SS plus Brushless system , the first cut off I got was defective , it would set up right but only the servo worked , called Novak , sent it back and got another one . New one worked great . If you want to know if it is the cut off disconnect it and try running the truck for a moment , that should tell you if it is the battery .

I put the battery in my other crawler, works just fine, I am thinking it's a defective cutoff.
