Default Head Scratcher - RC4WD Winch problems

OK, picked up a RC4WD bully winch from a member on here, said it was only run once and it looked in really good shape. I soldered the wires to the battery leads on my novak rooster crawler..black to black, red to red. Hooked up the three wires from the winch controller to the winch, red to red, black to black, and blue to green (on the motor leads). looked best to me, when I purchased the winch I asked the seller for a diagram, and they said it didn't come with one....hooked up my 2S lipo, was at 4.08V and 4.09V..according to the balancer. I winched it out and the novak started blinking red and green. Looked at the instructions and said that it was the lipo cutout, cutting out. I switched lipos, and winched it back in...PUFF...magic smoke...I unhooked the battery and checked it out...controller was very little warm...I unhooked the motor leads to the winch..was going to reset the ESC. The on off switch didn't work, off...ESC was still on...on...ESC was on....the POOOOFFFFF...more magic smoke from the winch controller. The winch wasn't plugged in nore did I run the winch on the TX...see pic below...

Wait a minute.............does the winch controler get power from the RX?!?!?! Should I of taken the + wire (red in this case) off. Then soldering to the ESC leads wouldn't of messed it up?!?!?!?!?! CRAP...bet it is huh....so in reality I was putting 14.8V through the controller and not the 7.4 that I thought I was.

I don't know, the controller is dead. The motor never got "HOT" warm yes, but not hot.

now I need to know what winch I have...either the 9300XT or the 9500XT, mine has 3 wires like a brushless.
