Default Castle BEC question PLEASE HELP!

Hey guys, so this morning, i came across an interesting post, which was originally posted in 09.

so my question is, can you really leave the red wire from the ESC connected to the RX to help with the load?

are there any downsides?

thanks

No.

It does not "share" the load... the BEC powers only the servo it's hooked up to, and the esc's built in BEC (if you still have it hooked up) would only power what is hooked up to the rx like additional servos. If you run the CC BEC through the esc and still have the red esc wire hooked up, you risk problems by back feeding. The external BEC is to avoid hi voltage spikes cause by power hungry servos we are using these days.

I wouldn't have started a whole new thread for this question that could have been asked in the thread you got the idea from.

oh, so what does it mean by connecting the BEC directly to the servo?

well, i was going to, but the thread was originally posted way back in 09..

a good reason for keeping it in that thread would be so that we could see the post you were speaking of, and perhaps make sense of it to you.

what it means is the + and - wires on the bec hook right up to the servos + and - wires and only the seros signal wire goes to the rx that way the servo gets all the power it needs or the voltage can be set higher for the newer high-voltage servos

so essentially you taking out the +/- from the servos RX connector, and using the CC Becs +/-?

btw is there a drawback of hooking up the servo directly from the bec?
