| My set-up: What do you think?
Hey everyone, like some feedback on what you think of my set-up. It is all on it's way to me in the post from various parts of the world. My main question is will a BEC be required? What I mean by that is if I don't run a BEC will I just have to pay really close attention to my servo temperature or will the rig not run at all? Set-up: Axial XR10 Novak M2 Dig ESC with supplied Terra Claws (upgraded motors will come one day) Futaba S9157 Servo MaxAmps 3s 860 Mah Battery Futaba 2 Channel Reciever (no dig just yet, later on) Also, what is this that I have heard about not being able to use other brand motors with Novak ESCs? Or is that only for brushless? Thanks everyone. Ps: I know I have been making lots of threads, but I am trying to gain as much knowledge as I can while I wait for all this stuff to arrive. It will slow down once my stuff gets here and I have it running. Promise. |

Spend the 20 bucks on the BEC, it makes a world of a difference and its not worth fryng your expensive servo over a 20 dollar part. You should be able to run any brushed motor you want with that ESC, cant speak for brushless though. You may want to look into the 9MM bearing mod for the XR, it will save you alot of time and probably money in the long run. | |

Well, if there are any kinks, hopefully the software updates will take care of that! I'm looking at the Castle Creations BEC (just the smaller one). Is that a good choice? In regards to the ESC, it must just be brushless. I thought it was odd...... Thanks for the help. |

I'm running the M2 Dig in my XR-10, and haven't had any problems with it pushing 2 Integy 45T motors. I had been running without a BEC as well, and haven't had issues with glitching the servo. But I went ahead and installed the Castle BEC just to be on the safe side. It's worth the small investment. Enjoy the XR!! |

My suggestion would be to ditch the M2 for now. The Novak drag brake is garbage and that is one of the most important things in a crawler. You can do a slow desent while on the throttle with the Novak, which makes it useless in my eyes. Pick up an FXR for now and grab the Castle BEC. When money is permitting grab a Futaba 4PL and then another FXR and you will have an amazing setup that is capable at competing at the top. |

Or go with dual mamba micro pros, I got both mine for 125 after shipping. Then when funds allow you can bump up to the 4PL like Harley said |

Problem is I already got the M2!! It's being posted here now, and to my part of the world back to the USA is very expensive. I am just getting started, so i'm sure it will get the job done for now.....
