Default Airtronics FHSS-2 MX-3

Ok just got my crawler going tonight. I am using clod axels and stock cans. I am looking for info IF possible on how to use the 3rd channel for steering/cutting power to rear motor?? It is a 3 channel radio. I tried using the 3rd channel for steering and it just went to one side and stayed there.
What are my options? Do I have any? Really think I would like to cut power to rear can if I can. Think that might be my best solution??
I am open to all suggestions and will listen to advice!

Thnx in advance.
