Default BEC (Y plug or Solder)

I have been using a Y plug for the BEC / Servo connection since I built my junk. My plug is all worn out and causing some power loss problems.

Have many of you just cut and soldered the bec wires straight to the servo wires? That seems like the simplest way. Are there any problems with doing it that way?

Or is it advisable to just pick up another Y plug somewhere?

Thanks

the biggest issues with this would be the difficulty of changing out the components, or reprogramming the BEC, functionally it should not be an issue, just a PITA.

I didn this same thing with mine. It is somewhat of a PITA but only took me about 10 min to change voltage output on mine. I forgot to change it before soldering it up So I had to figure it out pretty early on.

The only issue i see would be that if your servo is still under warranty
i not sure if they will honor the warranty seeing that the plug's been cut and wired direct..../..............just a guess.....though...

just get another Y harness....

been running one now for months with no problem.....

I usually wire it strait up.

Wired strait:
Pro's- nice clean and neat, dependable.
Con's- pita to for any changes

Y-connector:
Pro's- simple plug and play, easy changes.
Con's- extra wire to deal with, have to buy part, more connections to fail.

I just pull the signal wire out of the connector on the servo and plug that straight to the receiver. Then I put a female connector on the bec and just plug the servos connector into the bec's shiny new female connector.

I wouldnt hard wire it because then you wont be able to unplug everything...It just makes it easier to work on stuff that way.
