So what would the difference be between a 3 cell lipo and a 7 cell nimh battery? What are the advantages and disadvantages?

LiPO = ~3.4 volts/cell NiCD/NiMH = ~ 1.2 volts per cell 3 cell LiPO ~ 10.2 volts 7 cell NiMH ~ 8.4 volts The LiPO has more volts (more wheel speed & power), less weight, easier to place in a crawler. The NiMH is bigger, heavier and can provide LESS power. |

A 3 cell Lipo will be 12.6V fully charged and will be about 11.1 volts when discharging. Lipos weigh less. Lipos need a special charger. If you buy a high "C" rated batter it has a higher discharge The New Hyperion Lipos can be charged a higher rate and last longer. The 7 cell will be 8.4 volts. |

lipo is 3.7 volts a cell X 3 = 11.1 volts nimh is 1.2 volts a cell X 7 = 8.4 volts so right off the bat volts are better with a lipo, plus less weight........bob .... |
