Default Tekin FXR capacitor

I just picked up a used Tekin FXR for 50$ (can't beat that ) but its missing the capacitor. The instructions say it must be used. I did a search on here and found that Tower sells replacement ones but I really do not want to wait for that because when I buy a used electronic I like to test it right away to let the seller know everything is good. Question is, can I wire it up and try it without that? Or will that kill it? secondly, is the cap something I can buy from a local radioshack? I'd rather not pay 7$ then another 5-7$ for shipping for something that weighs what a nickle weighs.

Any info is appreciated

Thanks
Mike

yeah it's just a basic cap, you can buy it from any electronics store, as long as it's got the same specs (sorry i dont know the specs ATM)

It can run without a cap but its a ticking bomb. Not if it will fail but when. I replaced mine so I can run 4-5s lipo. I have some extra stock Tekin caps I would be more than happy to send you free of charge. If you want them shoot me a pm with an addy and I will mail them to ya

Definitely don't try it out without the capacitor just to tell the seller its ok. If you test it and it gets cooked, you would be tempted to tell the seller it was like that when you got it......

In a pinch you could use a 16v 1000uf cap readily available from Radio Shack. The guys are right though, don't run it without one.
