| voltage/winch question
i did a search on here and the net and didn't really find anything I thought was solid. scaler build going and bought a 3racing winch. I plan on running 3s lipo and the 3racing winch won't play nice with it. so my question is what would be best way to do this. should i just wire up a bec to run my winch or maybe buy a super small 350 mah 2s lipo and just use that to power my winch and possibly my led light setup. I have overlooked the voltage because I assumed the winch powered thru my rx. thanks in advance for any input |

If you run a 2nd stand alone esc for the winch you can run 3s. The ESC doesnt need to be 3s compatible as the winch one draws like 2amps at stall. I've done that with mine, 2nd esc for winch running paralleled off the main pack. Works like a charm |

I ran a 3-racing winch with the stock controller off 3s lipo for about 3 or 4 weeks before I smoked the controller. After that I had a dedicated BEC that ran my winch and lights that was set at 9 volts. The winch worked perfectly, and much faster than it did on 6 volts. It lasted until I replaced it with a more powerful servo winch. I think the BEC is your best bet.
