Default Servo issue

I have just bought a hitec 7954 servo and its running directly off the power in wires for the esc. My problem is it makes an odd noise just sitting. It seems to zero fine and its got boo koo torque and speed but the "glitching" noise bothers me and the sound is embarrassing. Any ideas of what I could do? I dont have a programmer if it makes any difference.

No not at all, if I lift the truck up it stops. I'm guessing it could be an adjustment but I cant figure out what to do. I do have a 2.4g setup.

Thats just the nature of digital servos, if you pick the truck up where the tires are not touching the ground it will quit.

Its nothing to worry about.

Is it making a high pitched noise? More than likely it is just your servo trying to find center. Pretty standard...does it on my comp rig and my scaler. Nothing wrong with it. I would recommend a bec...helps a lot with the servo's torque and performance.

My HS7954 made enough noise to concern me as well, but apparently it is normal. It is definately the loudest part of my axial. All my non-rc friends think it is broken...

I also run my servo directly off the the ESC power plug for mucho torque and speed.

After a while you can tell how bound up the steering is by how the servo wines.

Hitecs make noise. Great servos though!
Contact Hitec if it is still under warranty. Run a Castle Creations or similar BEC (Battery eliminator circuit) which will regulate the power to the servo. Running off the battery power wires could cause power spikes from esc motor draw to fry servo.

PHEW!! I thought I was going NUTS!!! I have the same issue with the Hitec 7954!! Just a high pitch sound but no twitchiness. Did it no matter if connected direct to the ESC or to the external BEC. And I have 4WS and swapped servos and it still did it on the front steering. No problem with the rear steer though (disconnected to verify).

Thanks for this thread!!!

ORA.

What voltage is that servo good for? You may have over powered it running off the ESC power wires (straight from the battery).

A B.E.C. is the only way to go.

My guess is that when it was stated, "connected direct to the ESC" means using the BEC within the ESC.

I dont read it that way. I read it as written " running directly off the power in wires for the esc". Hoping Ur2respect can fill-in the details.

Edit: Just searched info on the 7954. it says it can run 7.4v. A fully charged 2s lipo will run higher than 7.4v so if wired directly off the power in wires for the esc
