Default new motor issues

I have a scx10 and just installed a integy 55t motor. It was working pretty good until I went in some water. The factory 27t motor has spent countless times underwater and never gave me an issue. I disassembled the integy and cleaned it all out and now it will move forward, but with low power, and doesn't like to go in reverse at all. any help would be appreciated.

I guess my question is when you reinstall the last half of the motor (the part that holds the brushes) does it have to be in a certain spot, or does something have to be set?

Low power, sounds like you may need a comm and brush cut. The back side of your brushes may be so fouled that it won't let you go in reverse.

It could also be:

1-Slight timing on brushes meaning off center wear, they were reinstalled backwards and are hanging on the comm
2-Worn out brushes and they are rocking in the brush hoods and not transfering power to the comm.

And yes, the "brush hoods" (metal stamping the ESC wires go to as well as holding the brushes) need to be in a specific location.

I soldered the red to the positive side if thats what your talking about.
Installed a new esc and the motor works, but dont think its as torquey as the 27turn stock one It came with. How do I know if the brush hoods are in the correct location?
And what is the correct way to instal the brushes? If I get new ones, does it matter what kind they are as long as they look to be the same size, only new and not worn down?
Didnt think a new motor would be this big of an issue.
Thanks guys.
