3Racing winch

Can someone post up some pics and instructions of how you have your 3R winch hooked up, mounted and wired?

I am a visual person and can get a lot out of some pics and a little explanation.

Thanks so much!

Did you make that, or buy it?

I bought a seperate small 2S LiPo to run the winch, do I need to run it off of a separate battery or can I run it off of my existing set up.

What I have, and sorry I should have posted this to begin with, if you need more info just ask.

Axial SXC10, Tekin 35t, FlySky FS-GT3B Digital 3ch 2.4ghz TX & RX , CC BEC set to 6V, I just got some 2S 3300MAH LiPo's(that I have not switched to yet, still running my NiMh's) Hitec 645 servo.

Thanks for any and all help!

I run mine off a seperate battery with good results.
If you have the winch controller? It's pretty simple.
plug the battery connection from the controller into the battery, with what ever connectors you use, the winch to the winch controller, and the reciever wire from the winch control, to the aux channel on your reciever module.

Unless I am mistaken, that transmitter only gives you a two position third channel. Do yourself a favor and find out. If you are unsure, plug a servo in CH3 and see if you can get two or three positions with it. If it is two, the 3racing controller won't help you.

I make a controller that will do it - it is the second one in my sig.

Yes I believe it is a 2 position 3rd channel.

So I guess that changes everything.
You can either get a new transmitter that has a three position channel or find some other way to work it.

I cant afford a new radio now. So your 2 channel unit wont work with my set up then?

Thanks

Thanks

Correction on the servo, I just went out and looked at it and it is a HS985MG.

Sorry for the mix up.

If you run my winch controller, you won't need that power splitter. The controller gets power from the receiver.

So I wont need to hook up a batter at all to it?

Ok, I went and hooked it up, seems if I hook everything up THEN hit the 3rd channel switch it lets line out, hit it again and it spools back in, hit it again, out it goes, hit and in it comes. No stopping it from the transmitter...kinda sucks. If i use the little controller that the winch comes with I can let it out, stop, spool it in, stop, let it out, stop, etc. Isnt there a way to wire this so the controller will give you a neutral position?

Thanks

Right, no extra battery required when you use my controller.

That transmitter has a two position third channel. I don't know of a mod to turn it into a three position channel. Haven't actually had one of those transmitters in my hands yet.

Ok, another question.

If I get one of the Wireless Remote & Receiver for Bulldog 9300XT Winch's will it eliminate the need for the tx and for a different controller, and will I be able to use this unit, or will I still need a different controller like the one heyok has?

Thanks

Wow, great illustration rbl! What is the thing in the top left corner of the pic? I will still need something different for my 2 position 3rd channel though, correct?

Thanks

Yeah man, if you get the remote kit from a RC4wd winch you only need to give it power to work. Its independent of your Tx so you current radio will work.

There is away around the 2p 3rd channel.n.but it will only work if you're able to adjust the end points and reverse the servo direction on your 3rd channel.

If if does you can do this: reduce the travel on your 3rd channel down to 0% in one direction will leaving the other at 100%.
Now that will cause the winch run in one direction when you hit the button and then stop when you press it again.
To get it to winch back in the other direction you now reverse the direction on your 3rd channel.

This is what i do with one of the rigs on my DX3s, its a bit of pain but it becomes 2nd nature after you've done it a few times."thumbsup"

The thing in the top left looks to be his BEC.
