| more wheel speed?
can I achieve this simply through swapping for a lower turn count motor? at sacrifice of torque I suppose? currently running a 55t integy lathe. what would the internet suggest? |

yes you can do that and sacrifice some tourqe, but i suggest you get a lower turn motor (like a 35t or 45t) then volt up (bigger battery, and gear it down a little, and then youd gain your tourqe back |

I have an r2d tranny T-rex 60 axles and an 8t and 11t pinion at my disposal. if i volt up to an 11.1 will i have to get a bec as well? i havent put the 11t in yet, i could try that I suppose. or will it be too big of a jump? |

im guessing if you switched to a 35t motor and 3s battery that would be a big jump in speed and torque. i switched from a 55t to a 35t and it has loads more speed and just a tad less torque but i use it as a trail rig so i dont notice too much of a diff

You could try the 11 tooth pinion, see how it climbs and how hot the motor gets. Gearing up loads the motor which also produces heat (not a good thing if it gets too hot. Motor may be warm after a hard run, but you should still be able to put your fingers on it without burning them. |

A good 45t might be the ticket

im running a rooster crawler esc on 3s, no problems so far, but need to use an external cut off as the rooster is only for 2s. search for rooster and you get a few answers. seems fine to me judging by what i've read. i use a 1300Mah and get about an hour runtime Last edited by M1tch; 02-01-2011 at 07:34 AM. |

| Yeah, I've heard of a few folks running them with success....I was just going by what Novak recommends.

I use an external bec anyway even tho the novak puts out 6v. it seems to put out a touch more power anyway. I would definitely use a lipo cut off as well.
