| What Motors to Run on 4S?
Okay just had my first scale comp last weekend in Austin, TX on a dry limestone creek bed....and it was AWESOME! Placed 4th not too shabby as it was her first run on a full steel tuber with aluminum panels, Axial tranny robinson gears, MIP shafts, 55T Integy pro lathe (brand new with water break in and relubed), running on 3S to be safe. When I ran it on 4S last time on a 35T RC4wd motor it smoked it in 2 minutes. The motor lasted me an entire season of comping TTC. If I run a higher turn brushed motor will it be better? I'm paranoid now to smoking up that brand new 55T Integy I dropped in there. There's no room with the floor plan to drop a puller in there and it needs to be waterproof. Any suggestions? |

I think a good hand wound motor would be your best bet, also remember volt up gear down, you may be runnin too high of a gear ratio. Hit up Eddie at Brood to see what motor he'd recommend. I would think a nice 30-35T would be good choice with the proper gearing. |

That Integy 55 should have no issues on 4s, I'd say the rc3wd motor burnt simply cause it was a cheap closed endbell motor.

I run 4S on 37 turn handwounds in my comp rig and 5S on 35 turn Integy lathe motors in my scaler. Both still screaming along although you will see accelerated wear on the comms and brushes. I'd say run a 45-55 cheap lathe motor since they are cheap to replace. I agree on the RC4WD dying simply because of the cheap design. |

I run 4s on a cheap 55t in my super heavy 2.2 scaler with zero problems. Make sure your motor timing is right and you shouldn't have any issues. My gearing is 87/14. |

With 4S, I'd go brushless on a truck that heavy. I used to run 4S in my comp rig....until I melted the solder on my motor arm.
