| Torquemaster 540 Problems
Was running my crawler today and the motor quit running. I'm running a 35t HH Torquemaster 540. The motor is spinning but it is not turning the external drive gear. Anybody got any ideas?

| I'm going to piggy back because I feel the same way. I'm still very new and uncomfortable when dealing with the electronics. Running the same type of motor and temporarily needed to run it with a rooster 2c. I wired it up for the first time today and it doesn't seem to drive at all. . . I just took a novak motor off and it was running fine with that set up. . . . Thoughts!?

I think I answered my own question. The Rooster can't handle motors with less than 27T.

Sounds like you may have a hung brush or something else going on. The Rooster will work, it will just wear out running too hot of a motor.

| Okay. I'm really new to electronics in general. I have never taken apart a motor. Is this something I can fix myself or . . . I just took it out of the package I got it in, wired it and tried to crawl. What would cause a hung brush?

Does it make a difference which side of the motor you solder the connection to? I see both sides have solder posts. I've currently got it wired with the negative side closest to the negative spring and the positive opposite the positive spring. I can post a pic when I get home to better show what I'm talking about if its hard to visualize. Last edited by TC09mini; 02-03-2011 at 10:37 AM. | |

Doesn't really matter in a crawler.

| K thanks. I've got a red light blinking. . . here's what Novak says: Red LED flashing: Speed control has thermally shut down––Allow ESC to cool down––Use milder motor or smaller pinion gear––Check for adequate cooling to ESC’s heat sink. It shouldn't even been hot since it won't run to begin with. I've got a Sidewinder micro I can try, not sure if it will be any better. |
