Moa amp draw and minimum battery specs
 

I did a search but couldn't find any detailed info on this.

Has anyone measured the amp draw of MOA with lets say 35t handwounds?

I'm trying to save weight by going with smaller batteries. I've previously run 3S 1000mAh 40C packs, but now I'm considering a 3S 850mAh 25C-45C battery. Just wondering if I'll sacrifice performance and if the batterys can handle the amp draw of dual 35t handwounds.

I have a Watt's Up Watt Meter that I could use to check my setup tonight. I'm only using 45T motors but it might help steer you in the right direction.

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread. I use 1300mah 20c 2s packs. And if I run hard or get in a few binds in a short time they heat up fast (not to where I'd call it hot. But getting warm)
I'm thinking they may not be strong enough.

I've data logged a 2.2 before......we saw spikes upwards of 100 amps.....but for most stuff, its sub 20.........crawler motors don't pull much until you bind them up....

I'd post the graphs, but my computer they were on went tits up. I am gonna run them again in JBs crawler to get some solid numbers on someone who doesn't suck at crawling like me...

Eddie is pretty much right on the amp draw. But one thing to consider, is that the motor is only gonna draw what the battery lets it. Cheap batteries usually mean lower discharge voltages.

I've ran the Thunderpower 45C 850Mah packs for a while and they gave me all the power i could have asked for, but once I switched to the CBP Elite lipos, game over.:twisted: They pulled so much harder than the TP's that I couldn't believe it.

Higher amp draws from batteries will heat them up if they are a low C rated battery. But a quality High C battery will definitely put out the power you need and not compromise the battery. My 35C/70C burst 1000Mah batteries are technically capable of putting out 70 amps, so that is what I could expect my peak amp draw to be if it ever got bound up hard enough to draw that much.

Higher C rating DO make a difference on how the motors will perform also. But just because the battery advertises high C ratings, does not necessarily mean they are. Do some research and you'll be surprised!8)

the elite lipos from cheapbatterypacks.com are some of the best ive used on my losi moa running 2 brood 30t's. the lipo is a 1700mah 35c and it barely gets warm unless im really hard on it. if going with a lipo around 850mah stay around or above 30c constant to get the most performance

One good 35t can definitely pull over 100 amps burst in a bind. Even a 55t can do that on 3s. On average though it may be 1 or 2 amps. The question is how hard you can bind up before something breaks, and how hard will you drive?

My minimum suggestion for a MOA would be a 1000mah 35c pack using 3s with 35t motors. I personally run 1300 packs for better punch and longer cycle life. I have seen sponsored guys run much smaller, but they don't care if a pack lasts 10 runs before wearing out. Your mileage will certainly vary as much as terrain.

I've blew more than one of the TP 850's with a single 35t, I'll be trying the CBP elite's next.

i am running the same size battery as u but im only getting like 15 to 18 min of run time.......does that seem right to u? how long will yours last?????
