i run sky lipo, 2s 800mah and when mine are fully charged i get around 8.3 volts so i would say its normal, i know a 8.4 volt nimh will be around 9.2 volts fully charged

a fully charged 2s lipo should be 8.4v. anything under its likely not fully charged. when he drains below capacity what voltage are the at? does he have a lipo cutoff? what is it set at? it may be to low or the battery could have a bit more than 5000mah

as long as he isnt over drawing the battery and the cells are all above the 3v range when he goes to charge after hitting his cutoff i wouldnt worry about it since the voltage of the cells will bump up after the load has been taken off of them but still have little to no capacity left

I have heard some companies will take a lower c cell that is higher capacity and under rate the capacity so they can give it a higher c raiting. I would not worry about it as others have said as long as the votages are not to low.

Default Check out this Crawler powered by Sky Lipo

From the owner "This is my Exceed Mad Torque Rock Crawler with upgraded Sky Lipo 5000mah/20C 2s battery ($21), Hobbypartz T-Pro MG946R metal gear steering servo ($12), TGN Outcry dual motor ESC ($60) and DIY wheel weights ($12) crawling around on natural landscape rock backyard. I am really pleased with the performance to price ratio. I normally prefer speed when it comes to RC but I am enjoying driving and tweaking this crawler and the price is right."

The only complaint I have about sky lipo is the battery lead sizes on one of the batteries i bought. I think it was the 800 mah 40 c 4s. it had tiny wires so i had to take it apart and put bigger ones. If you look at the pictures of the batteries on the website you can see which ones have smaller or bigger wires
