rollover protection for batt.
 

Hello all! I'm going to be mounting my batt. on a strc 4link/servo plate on the rear axle of my axial. Any ideas on making/buying some type of "rollcage" to protect the batt?..Thankyou for any and all help

What kind of battery are you running. If its nimh i wouldnt really worry

Nickle batteries need to be protected too. I would get a 1'x1' piece of lexan about as thick as a penny and just build a shell for the top of the battery. Tape or glue it on and you are good to go . Ive always wanted to dip one of my lipos in a small batch of fiberglass resin and see how it hold up .

are you talking about maybe double sided taping the lexan shell right to the battery? it is a 3s by the way. Or gluing the shell to the batt. plate?

either one would work im sure lol. heck why not stick on velcro?

Just wrap your battery with some lexan and it will be enough protection. This is how I have always done mine.

i think i will try the lexan idea. Lexan is heat-moldable? I'm now thinking about using double-sided tape to hold the batt. in the lexan case. Thank you to all for the great suggestions

hello irok. Is your cover attatched to the batt.?

I used a piece of. 030 lexan formed into a three sided box. It slips over my battery and is held in place by the Velcro straps that hold down the battery. It cheap, light, strong and easy to form with heat.

being new to lipos, will using double-sided tape to hold the cover in place cause any overheating issues?

How aboutting cutting a bleach bottle? Can that plastic be molded in boiling water.

problem solved. I found an old cough syrup bottle. Cut it length wise all the way down. After some trimming, it's a perfect fit. A nice tight fit, hanging off all four sides about an 1/8 inch. Thank you for all the help and suggestions
