Default lipos need to be protected

i have been looking into lipos and reading around and in a previous post someone was asking how to protect his lipos so i was wondering if they have to be protected? they are goin in a scx10 with the battery plate mounted up front on top of the frame. do i need to construct a box to keep them safe of will they be fine up there on the battery plate with factory velcro straps?

are you meaning protected from water, rocks, and trail debris, ive ran a few lipos in water when i had my scx and never really had a problem, i know the only water proof lipos out there are the ones from maxamps.com, as far as making a box i dont think its needed since the battery is up so high, i think the factory velcro straps will do just fine

I'm not 100% sure, but I do believe in competition you do need to have the battery covered on top and 4 sides. I just bought my very first Lipo pack so I'm slowly learning this stuff myself.

some places that have competitions do require them to be protected other do not, its up to the rule setters. i have never made boxes or anything of the sort to protect mine. all the ones that are likely to bounce a bit or get hurt all are hardcase lipos but my crawlers are all soft packs

hello, i'm the one asking about lipo protection. My lipo is on a crawler, mounted on the rear axle. I was looking for protection for when i roll over as there is nothing to cover the batt. Sounds like where you will be mounting your batt. is fine. My batt. is exposed to rocks
