Default Novak M2 Dig

Has anyone tried the Novak M2 dig in the XR-10 yet? Looking at purchasing one, but wanted to know if its a good fit in the rig first! I am not a heavy comp guy yet, just looking to do it right the first time.

If you want to do it right the first time, then get a Punk Dig and a good ESC of your choice. Lots of people have had problems with the old technology used in the M2

To "do it right" you would be looking at a dual ESC setup. A FXR and punk is just a reliable less capable option.

if i were to do it over, i'd go dual mamba micro... m2 is not a good option at this time, and fxr's are more expensive than they need to be.

Not to sound like a total newb...would they get wired like the fxr's and can you use brushed motors with them? I ask about the wiring because that's all people show it seems!

Yes, and yes to both these questions.

Also, if you already have the radio you were going to use with the M2, please check check this out:

Depending on what you already have, it could either be your solution or part of an upgrade path.

I'll play devil's advocate here...

Right now the M2 has one significant problem, the proportional control just doesn't work. But, it is a good three-position dig/ESC. I have run three comps with it running on the 1.2v firmware and have had no problems. The drag and dig brakes hold very well when you have the settings maxxed out. It has a nice compact foot-print and its easy to install and setup.

With that said, if you have the funds to go with a dual ESC setup, you might want to go with that.

I didn't have any problems with the propo but the hill holding and drag brakes were very weak.

I switched to dual FXRs and so far I'm very pleased with the set up. Smoother, stronger and better control, what more could you ask for.

Well, its high time you poop or get off the pot...

You have a good smatterring of people giving you what they know. If you have a local club, I recommend running what the club drivers are, they will be able to support you better with what ever system you decided on.

The nearest club is 1+ hours away! I think the dual esc is the way to go. That's for the info everyone...much appreciated!

I disagree, the m2 is junk!novak has had mine for 2 weeks and claim they have never seen this problem before. Its not the firmware or the brainboard, so lets add another problem to the m2.And they are acting like they don't want to warrenty it.It only lasted about 1/2 of a battery pack the 2nd day I owned it.If you can't do dual esc's, a quality esc with a punk dig is better than the m2 for sure.
