Default Is 1 CC BEC enough?

On my Class 3 rig I'll be running 4 wheel steering and a winch.

Setup is Mamba Max, 3s Lipo, 45t, Hitec 5955tg in front, Hitec 985mg in back and a Hitec 645 for a winch.

I have my Bec wired in line and hooked to the Rx.

It was fine with the 5955 and a dig servo in the comper, but I don't know how much all my stuff, in a bind, will pull.

Will one 10A CC BEC handle this?

Don't know if 2 are "needed", but my girls dual steer bully runs 2 BEC's. One is a 7950 servo for the front set at 7.4V, the rear is a 7955 set at 6.0V.

I've found the rear servo to be plenty strong even when bound a bit or when all the weight is on the rear axle. The front just sees more steering duties so it got a stronger one.

Not sure if running both servo's at 6.0 would work off 1 bec, but with what they can pull at load, I'd probably run 2 BEC's even if the front and rear were both 7950's.

Yes, the CC BEC pro. I run one on my 6X6. Its cheaper than two 10Amp BECs

How much does all that stuff pull though?

Like a stalled 5955. Can't find specs like that.

So how would ya know when you've reached the amount of draw that an external BEC is needed? Where's the numbers?

I mean obviously on 3s with a high torwue servo the Mamba Max needs one, so I can reason that the amperage draw is higher than 5 amps.
does a motor draw more than a servo?

5955TG stalls at 4.2 amps @ 6 volts
985MG stalls at 3 amps @ 6 volts
645MG is about 1.6 amps @ 6 volts

Thanks SuperRoo! Where'd ya find that info?

Don't happen to know what a 45t on 3s pulls do ya?

Already at 8.8 with everything bound up which I soubt would ever happen.
I could see the winch and front servo getting bound which brings it to 5.8 Amps.
If a CC BEC actually DOES do a REAL 10 Amps, I should have 4.2 to use for the motor and ESC.
I've heard that rating isn't actually true though. Anyone verify actual rating?

Your motor shouldn't be pulling amps through your BEC, it comes direct from battery to the ESC then to the motor.

Neat. I learned something!

Soooo if the CC BEC has a constant rating of 5 amps but a peak of 10, what does it actually handle? I'm unfamiliar with when it's "peak" rating comes in to play.

It sounds like I'm near the peak rating of 1 CC BEC if everything id bound up at once.

Could someone "idiot" it down for me as to what these ratings actually mean regarding peak and constant ratings' relation to what the crawler would be doing i.e. scenarios.

Is it sounding more and more like 2 BECs or a Pro is advised?????

If so, I've never done a wiring setup like that so any help/diagrams would be awesome if 2 BECs/1 pro is the final verdict (???).

Peak is for spikes such which are typically rated in the multi second range anywhere from 3-10 seconds typically.

With all that you are pulling some decent amps and I would go with the pro.

Just got off the phone with Thomas at CC.

Looks like at 3s input, the CC BEC's amperage rating is 7 constant, 9 peak.

I'm close to that. He said to watch BEC temps. I have and they've been fine, but it's below 40 here sooooo......

I think I'm gonna just get another CC BEC, and wire it directly to the 5955 since it's pulling the most amperage.

The other BEC should be able to handle a winch and rear steer just fine.

That sound about right?

Can't really afford the pro (can't rally afford another anything lol!). That and it's huge!
