Sharing a channel?

I'm going to need to share a channel on my Bronco. I've got three available, obviously one is for steering, another for throttle/brake, and the third will need to operate both the shift servo and the servo winch.

I picked up a mini 3 position switch (on/off/on) and figured I could just use that to switch either power or signal to either servo.

Question is: should I switch power or should I switch signal?

I say just try it out and see what works better. If you cut signal the servo might go nuts so that may screw up that option. The problem with cutting power is that now your servo is dead and it could potentially be moved. Try it out and pick the best option for your situation.

I'm not really concerned about either moving when they're not on, other than my winch which has a tendency to creep at times. Otherwise they both have a pretty light load when not being used.

What I am concerned about is getting a proper signal through the switch vs getting power through the switch.

Switching power would probably be ideal, but I wanted to hear opinions and maybe a little experience in the matter. All are welcome. "thumbsup"

The signal is actually not power, but the amount of time between pules of power ranges from 1ms-2ms if you cut signal your servos may go bonkers, i'd suggest cut power, and hope your tranny doesn't change gears while your winching
