Default Help with battery packs

This has probly been mentioned on here, but can anyone tell me how to rearrange the cells in a battery pack? I have a 7 cell stick pack I want to make into a hump pack. My lhs wants $20 per battery to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Have you ever soldered batteries before?
Have a GOOD gun or iron to solder with?
Are your current packs soldered or welded?

I think theyre welded. Ive tried to reattach battery tabs before but I couldn't get them to hold. I have a cheap walmart iron. Someone told me there would be wires soldered on the battery but there are l shaped tabs on the battery. I don't want to take them apart unless I'm sure I'll get them back together.
