Default New ESC and Motor.....HELP PLEASE :)

Alright, I'm extremely new to the RC Crawling world, but like a lot of people here I drive a 1:1 scale rig and for some reason wanted another "cheap" hobby/project.....like I really needed one.

Here's the rig in question.

Well I'm stumped...maybe a bad ESC...?

I just installed the ESC and Sensored Brushless Motor (link) but I am having problems with it. It will only go drive backwards. I have done the throttle range setting and programmed the ESC but nothing makes it go forward. Even if I set the direction of throttle channel to normal or reverse, it only will drive backwards. The throttle direction changes, but the RC will not move forward. It worked fine right before I put this one in. What do you guys think.......? As a side note, yes this came from China, but the one I took out was the same brand from the same company and it worked great....just needed a sensored setup. Besides, what isn't from China these days?

Also, I know 11.5T is WAY too fast for crawling, I've got the HPI Crawl Box in this and with my last 32T motor it was still on the slow side.

ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED! I'm hoping it's my stupidity so I don't have to wait for a new part...

Well I'm glad to hear that I'm not completely useless around these little things then. I was so stumped. Guess I'll have the company get a new one coming to me!

From what I've read it sounds like you have it in forward only mode, the default setting of the esc and have the motor direction reverse.

Try reprogramming the controller with the programming box and make sure you save the settings before disconntecting.

Try these settings:
1 - 3
2 - 8
3 - 4 or 5
4 - personal preference
5 - doesnt matter
6 - personal preference
7 - 2
8 - 2
9 - 1
10 - 1
11 - the opposite to what it is now
12 - 1

HAHA shit......I did program the ESC, but apparently you have to press OK on the programmer to save your options. Works great!

Glad this was my first post here

Thanks for the help!!!

Hey mate,

was just wondering how this esc performed at low speeds? Obviously not crawling speeds with that motor but does it cog on start up? With the right motor do you think it would crawl ok?

I've used some of the older non sensored escs (turnigy) and they performed pretty crap at low speeds. Yet I've tried the newer trackstar turnigys and they've seemed great for non sensored.

Cheers
