Default batterys getting hot when charging

i noticed recently that when i charge my batterys they get hot. Not schorching hot but warm enough that it caught my attention.

Is this normal? Im running NiMh batts and charging them at the recommened 4 amps

What size nimh? They will warm up when peaking, it is normal. Generally around 135f is normal when charging them fast.

Drop the rate down. 4a is the suggested rating if you want to wear them out in 30 charges.

What shape/ brand are they? If it is AA then 1a would be better. If it is a 2/3a or similar squat size then 2a may be ok.
