Transmitter/receiver $65?????? Has anyone used or thought of using anything like this? http://www.radioshack.com/product/in...entPage=search It's from radio shack used on the VEX robot kits. It's 6 channels and comes with crystals. I'm going to the local RS to have a look at it and see what its about. But I'm not much of an expert on this and was wondering if anyone else has seen it? |
my tech class in school bought that vex thing to tinker with. I had the radio in my hand and it feels pretty good but it was a few months ago but if you need any info on it I'll try to help. |
I just thought that it would be a nice alternative to buying something more expensive. Expesially if someone wanted to run extra servos for whatever. It is a 6 channel.? I just spent $120 on a 4 channel and thought this might be a good alternative and the price is good at $64.99 Do you know if its usable in a crawler with our servos and esc? Thanks |
I'd get a computerized TX. The RS TX doesn't have things like EPA adjustment, servo centering, etc. |
What is the cost of a computerized TX? I found this thing at Radio Shack and it's on sale for 65 thought someone might be able to use it, if nothing else get someone that might know something about it to see if it would work in the crawler comunity since its set up as a six channel. |
For $65 it might be a good deal, I'm sure you could add pots for EPA like folks do with the TQ3, but that's more work than some are willing to do. You can get the Airtronics VG600 for $170: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXEUM1**&P=7 Then there's the Spektrum DX6 for $200: http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=SPM2460 Both are excellent radios. The only reason I say I'd get a computerized radio is 'cause I bought a Futaba Attack 4 channel stick radio...then realized I'd bought a radio with no EPAs or servo centering features. I then picked up the VG. |
I just purchases the Attack 4. I didn't realize it didn't center the servos? Is the VG a air radio? |
You really don't realize what a good radio can do until you use one for a while, then you wonder how you ever got along without it. I used to think my XR3i was pretty damn good til I got the R-1. When I broke the steering wheel spring on the R-1 and sent it in for warranty repair, I used the XR3i for two weeks and really missed all the extra features. Mostly the flexibility of the third channel. The difference between a good 6-channel like a JR 6102 and the Radio Shack unit is the same difference between a PSP and the old LED "electronic football" game. |

The key difference is, you can get your hands on Debbie down the street  |
