Default lipo powered power wheels

I got this little Bistro scooter for my daughter it runs on a pair of 12v batteries in series I believe. I was thinking of trying out some 5000 mah 30c lipos. Is this a bad idea? The 12v are dead and wont hold a charge.

I dont think you will see very good run times, Those batterys range from 7ah to 12ah.. you would need at least a 12500mah i believe to see the same runtimes.

edit:

How are you going to get 12v, its either 11.1v or 14.4v?

Doesn't those "gopeds" have brushless motors too?

You can get new 12VDC gel cells at many places (Radio Shack, Batteries Plus, Tower Hobbies, etc).

Cost is less than LiPO's.

LiPO's can work, but you need to know FOR SURE the input voltage. Is it series or paralell?

series? unlikely that it runs on 24v but i suppose it's possible... i have a couple power wheels here for the kids and i thrown in a 3s and they fly.... not sure if they were originally intended for 6v or 12v, but so far they haven't smoked, when they do imma put in a brushless system

the power wheels We have here at the house uses 550 size cans, Its possible. but you would definitely need to source metal gears. the one we have here has plastic gears similar to clod axles

Yeah its a 24v system, and to dezrick a 3s lipo will charge up to 12.8 volts. I will look into those gel cell batteries. I never had good luck with the stock batteries in the Razor Scooters or pocket rockets. http://razor.kidsonroll.com/PocketModBistro-Razor.php thats what we have. I bought it cheap because the owners didnt want to get new batteries @ 50.00 each. I will have to search around now that the snow melted my daughter is begging me to get it running.
