Default Tx lipo mod question

I did a search but couldn't get a solid answer. I picked up a few 850mah 3s packs, can I simply clip the +/- wires on my radios stock battery tray and solder on a deans connector?

might want to mention what transmitter you are trying to mod. Also what batteries does it currently use, 8xAA?

My fault, its a flysky gt-3, 8 AA batteries. I have the voltage figures out, it was more just a concern about the type of connector.

Perfect, and would I be ok using the voltage display as a monitor? It starts beeping at 9v, I would have to keep an eye on it so it doesn't get to that point, but it does show the current voltage on the display.
