Default Help the idiot thread

ok so this is the second time its happened to me, but here it goes. I take the scx out in mud, the esc is supposed to be waterproof, and now i am beginning to have doubts, but i have it out, and after i clean it up with a rag it sits on my shelf next time i get it out, everything works until i try reverse. i have done all i can to clean the chip the best i could, with no results am i past the point of no return, or is there a possibility of me fixing this problem??

What sort of ESC is it?

When you try to reverse, does the indicator light show reverse, or brake? What I am getting at is does the ESC have a revers lock out mode? Most non crawler specific speedies have reverse lock out. It's settings might be slipping.

Also, if it has exposed heat sinks, is something bridging the forward and reverse heat sinks?

well both were diff,, one was the stock axial ax-1 esc no lockout, and the other was a duratrax 16t mod esc it tries to reverse, but never moves and actually starts smoking so that one is toast, but the other one might have hope?

Did you waterproof the esc? I don't know about the duratrax esc but I know the AE-1 is not waterproof unless you did it yourself.

likely they are toast since all it takes when trying to waterproof is miss just a bit and water will find its way in. i would suggest buying an esc waterproofed from factory (traxass xl5, lrp runner)

Might as well try to get the XL5 with the LVC if you ever plan to run Lipo...
