Default BEC wiring; Which is better?

So I am aware of 2 ways to wire up a CC BEC

#1 is to solder the BEC +&- leads to the main battery leads, then pug the BEC into the BAtt/Bind port in the RX, and remove the pos(+) red wire from the esc plug, and plug in only the neg and signal wires from the ESC into the rx.

#2 is to solder the BEC +&- leads to the main battery leads, and then plug the ESC and SERVO wires into a Y-harness, and then only plug the signal wire form the harness into the servo port on the rx.

right now i am running option #1 to save myself a ratsnest.

but is option #2 really better? and why?

With one servo I have never over amped a RX by running the servo through it. There is really no reason to over complicate the wiring if it's not needed. The only reason to bypass the RX is to stop from running that much amperage through it.

I have always used option 2 since the bec directly powers the servo. Not sure if there is a real advantage to be honest. I have ran them both ways to experiment and noticed no difference.

I've ran both setups and for me it depends on the voltage I'm using. The super goes straight from the bec to the red and black servo wires and the signal to the rx. It wasn't too much of a rats nest, just removed the excess wire.

I like to by pass the RX with the BEC. I don't like to overpower my RX.

Nice.

I am trying to step up my game and make sure everything in my rig is assembled and wired to like, pro/good driver standards.

I assumed that because my 8711 only takes 6v, that option #2 wasn't necessary w/ a Spektrum RX.

But it always nice to ask. thank you all.

What volts do you run to your servo? I've got mine set at 6v but thinking of upping it a bit. Radio is a 4PKS

I have ran 7.4v with no issues.

Option 1 for me. Saves the headache
I have ran 7.4v through my old ko-propo RXs and my spectrum RXs no problems

Unless you are running two big servos there is really no point in doing any other way.

I was having some servo glitching issues, while using the throttle, with my BEC wired up like #2. Once I changed to the #1 setup the problem went away.

You were having grounding issues most likely. If you ran a ground wire back to the RX as well as the BEC then you probably would have been fine.

I have run option 2 on a couple different rigs with no issues. the latest being a honcho and savox servo running at 7v.

There isn't a problem with running the second way but there just really isn't a need to go through the extra unneeded effort on a typical 2.2 or 1.9. Multiple servos is when it becomes a need.

As per Tekin's site (I'm running FXR esc):

Q13. What do I need to do to the ESC if I'm using a separate BEC?
A13. You must remove the red wire from the esc's receiver wire harness. Make sure to tape it securely to the harness to prevent shorts.

Need to do this on mine.

So you think it would be safe to run 6V through just about any receiver?

Every rx I have checked out (reading on thier respective web page for the rx in queston) will list the voltage range it will handle.

Don't know, but this is what Tekin says...

In general, what did you find about the rx input voltage?
