That affects the timing of the motor, which directly affects the power of the motor.

If you look at thte STICKY in this section titled: "Definitive ESC, MOTOR, and BATTERY threads - RCC's top tech threads!"

and scroll down, there is a thread by JohnRobHolmes titled "Caring for your brushed motor" check that out and it will explain what you need to know

It changes the timing. If you loosen those 2 screws the endbell screws apart there. Just line it back up and tighten them down. If you arent sure where or how look up holmes thread on "caring for your new brushed motor" and that will tell you how. Just out of curiosity, why were you removing those screw on a brand new motor?

I didn't know that would move the brush position. I was trying to move the wires so they didn't hit the frame and rube on it. Once it move I know it wasn't good.

The motor is going faster in revers than froward.

Try to adjust the timing so that the speeds are about the same in both directions, or a bit faster in forwards. If the shaft rotates clockwise this means that the endbell will need rotating counterclockwise a bit.
