Default Mamba Max Pro - Help

Picked up a used mamba max along with a 5700k motor. Ditched the motor, and just putting the esc on a stock brushed ax10 with an nimh battery.
Didn't get the castle link, so I'm just swinging the setup. Plugged it all in, and the esc is super glitchy. Running the throttle either direction makes it sputter. Just for fun, hooked the 5700 motor up and it seemed to work. I checked out the manual and tried to set it up manually. There are 3 leds, I never have seen the yellow one come on. When I plugged the 5700 motor in it set off the tones, the brushed motor never does make a tone.
Without the castle link I can't tell what the settings are. I'm only assuming they are still set for brushless and possibly lipo.
Any help?

(Sorry, it was a Mamba Max, not the Pro)

By default the ESC is set up for brushless.
You can change it with your Tx and the directions.

try hooking a battery up, turning it on, and then plug in the castle link. I have had the same trouble and this fixed it.

On the CC website there are special instructions for installing the software under windows 7. http://www.castlecreations.com/suppo...ml#castlelink4

  1. Click 'Download Castle Link vX.XX Now'
  2. At the bottom of the page click 'Save.'
  3. When the download is complete click the bottom at the bottom right 'View Downloads.' This will open a folder containing the download 'CastleLinkInstall_3.41.1' or higher.
  4. Right click (click with right mouse button instead of the usual left button) and from the dropdown left click on 'Run as Administrator.'
  5. Allow Windows to install the software.
  6. Click the 'Next' button through the installation process and be sure to allow the driver to install if Windows asks.
  7. Castle Link software is now installed. Go to the desktop, there will be a new blue icon that says 'Castle Link.' The icon opens the program like any other program installed on your computer.
