Default Traxxas TQ2 to TQ3

I have an TQ2 2.4ghz radio and receiver from my e-maxx up grade. I've wired it to use the 3rd channel to shift a summit trans on my SCX-10. My problem is I can't get the radio to unlock the 3rd channel. I really don't want to buy another receiver quite yet. I've tried using some of the other default settings that may have a 2 speed trans and no luck. I've searched for a while hear and the internet to unlock the third channel and can't find any info. any help would be great.

I might be missing something here, but if you have a TQ2 you only have 2 channels, you cannot access a 3rd. The TQ3 is a three channel TX, but its not 2.4ghz.

any of the tq 2.4's have 5 channel capability, however some of them are locked in by the firmware...
