Help my esc please

I have a redcat rs10, stock esc, new banebot motors, and running a 6 cell nimh that gets charged on a qualtiy balancer. Heres the problem. I believe my esc is going out on me, but I don't know enough to say for sure. It was running fine then the battery died and now it's all messed up even on a few different fully charged packs. The car will go fine until you get it in a bind such as climbing and then the axles will take turns stalling or even both at once. Are these symptoms typical of a bad esc?
