Default Looking for a cheap and decent ESC

So, I have a Tamiya CC 01 (motor that came in the box), a Spektrum radio/reciever and I am using LiPo batteries. Just wondering if there is a decent, cheap ESC (about 50 bucks) out there that I could use while I'm in-between jobs. My Losi ESC recently overheated and blew the throttle in it.

You could pick up the new axial AE2, made by castle and programmable via castle link.

The cheapest you will get a new sidewinder for is about 65.

I love when people use cheap and good in the same sentence. I just saved a little longer and picked up a new sidewinder sv2 and a cc bec becuase I am tired of ****ing with cheap electronics, I used to say I wasn't going to spend a ton of money on a cheap crawler(Redcat rs10) but I got tired of down time so I started upgrading when i could and now I get to drive it everyday if the battery is charged.

no kiddin IURF...

inexpensive...try outcry, need a lipo cut off...now your at the sidewinder price...Axial is about the same price as the sidewinder.

cheap?? how about this...handles a lipo and its under 50 bucks...not going to say it will work well for you, but that wasn't one of you criterias

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-TRAXXAS-XL5-...item230f9ce874

this one is brushless...and its half of what you want to spend...and its cheap!!

really, wait and earn a little more and get something that will grow with you...FXR, Sidewinder, Roostercrawler even...A guy here runs the outcry and likes it..but like I said, you need a lipo cut off.

Like I said I'm in-between jobs (about 2.5 months between jobs) so I don't have a whole bunch of money to spend on RC stuff. I'm just looking to spend 50 or so on an ESC that will allow me to get out on a Sunday here or there. I plan on getting either a Rooster or a Mongoose once I have another solid job and a more stable cash flow. Thanks for the replies guys! I'm considering that XL5 because our canadian dollar is slightly higher than the American atm.

Have you looked at used? You can get some good ESC's for a decent savings, timing is everything though.

I got a XL-5 with lipo cut-off for @37 to the door off ebay! I like it, waterproof, easy to use and program the few options it has two problems I have found, the internal bec is not very stong, so a cc bec might be needed and the lack of drag break.

My first vote goes for purchasing used. I found my rooster crawler for $45 bucks, I can't remember if it was ebay or here but if your patient you'll find one. But if you want REALLY cheap try this http://cgi.ebay.com/RC-Car-300A-ESC-...item588d1b08c9
I have one in my scaler, great drag break and under $19 bucks shipped! Only bad thing is the double pump reverse but I think the xl5 has the same. Ohh and you might have to wait a couple of weeks for shipping but again for the price who cares!

I'd save the $10-15 extra and pick up a new Castle Sidewinder V2.

I would go this route then you would't have to spend more money later upgrading.

I went down to the LHS and have worked a deal out there with my friend who runs the place. He's going to hook me up with a Castle Sidewinder V2 combo. It's 110 bucks, but I'm just giving him 10 bucks here and there when I can spare a few after paying the bills.
