Default Traxxas summit servo control

Hi.

I have the venom creeper and im wondering if the same system used to controll the 2 locking diffs on one channel from the summit would work.

The only thing is im not actaully sure how it works..i understand you can lock all unlock all or just lock the front.

Is it some kind of servo mixer?

The Summit controller is 4 channel giving you throttle, steering, Diff lock and gear change. As far as I know both diffs on the Summit are either locked or open on the standard set-up.

That said there's not reason you could have the front diff on the 3rd channel and the rear on the 4th for your Creeper.

Not sure if the Venom has front and rear lock diffs.

I don't see why the Differential Locking Controller wouldn't work. You will just have to have a 3pos switch to run it for both servos.

HI guys thanks

Firstly the venom does have front and rear diffs (lockable) i got one in front of me

Second, according to the traxxas site, the options on just a single channel are 'both locked, both unloicked, front locked rear open' it uses 2 seperate servos (one front one back) but i have no idea how you can controll the 2 fron one channel...is it a mixer?

EDIT: also Tuper im using a 3ch radio and ant to cntroll the 2 servos independantly, maybe a programmer or mixer.

If its not is there any mixers out there that will allow me to?

Craig

Are you using the Venom remote locking kits or making your own?

PunkRC might make something that'll allow you to run 2 servos independently from one channel. I use a 6ch radio, so I haven't really explored the 3ch options.

Something to be aware of - whatever the solution, you'll need something that has adjustable endpoints. You need to set the linkage spot-on, or you'll burn out the servos. It'll be a real pain trying to get it right with fixed travel.

I made my own on-axle servo mounts and linkages, using Hitec HS-55 servos and airplane fittings. Works much smoother than the Venom kit. Link here:Diff locks - this seems to work real smooth

Traxxas summit has one servo for one diff - and both servos are indeed controlled by one channel with splitter some sort - as the TX has 3 position switch: 1: open diff, 2: front locked, 3: all diffs locked.
So short aswer would be that yes you can use summit splitter in venom lockers.

You can make your own 6ch pistol controller as well - several threads on here.
