Default Servo problems

I put a brand new 7950th in my (stock) XR10, with a cc bec at 7.4v, and after my first pack it developed a problem where it stalls and just goes dead if there is no load on the steering for a second. No hum, no life. if i put pressure on the horn or wheels it'll come back to life and centre or steer again then cut out again if there is no load.
Is this a bad servo? bec? or am i just missing something else?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would start with double checking all the electrical connections, I.E: bec to power, anywhere you put a deans, and make sure there are no nicks in any wires. Also not to insult your intelligence, but you disconnected the the red wire on the esc plug into the rx right?
If nothing looks wrong I would unhook the bec and try the servo going into the rx like normal and see what happens.

Is the BEC direct to the servo or through the ESC??
If through the ESC, what ESC are you running?

Your's sounds like before I had a BEC with a HiTec 7955TG, everything would "die" until I picked up the front end of the rig. Then it all cam beck to life.
What was happening was the RX was 'browning out" and shutting off. It's LED was off but the ESC still had lights.

Check your RX lights when the steering dies & report back.
I also prefer a direct wire from BEC to servo, NOT through the ESC.
