Default number of poles in a motor

i have done my searching and found that the more poles in a motor the more torque.

ex: a 2 pole motor would have more torque than a 4 pole motor

i also have found 6 pole motors for rc boats. the dimensions sound like they would bolt right up to an axial transmission.

the questions:
would a 6 pole brushless motor be over kill for a crawler?
does anyone have any experience with a 6 pole motor?

I don't know to much about the brushless stuff, but I did find a few threads from JRH. Check these out they have alot of info, definetly worth the read. Here and Here, good luck.

They are brushless as are the Tekin's. The Tekin thread is here.

The way i understand it is the more poles in a BL motor the more torque, the less more RPM.

Thats why outrunners put out so much torque from such a small package (in relative terms).

A 6 pole motor would be fine for a crawler.

But the main question is it Sensored or Sensorless.
And what kV/Turn is it rated at?

neither of them are sensored but i would think that the more poles the less cogging because of the high torque correct?

this is the motor i was talkin about. good deal i think check it out

heres a 4 pole that sounds good

i even found a 8 pole brushless but cant pinpoint right now

Both of them are pretty high in kV (the first one is 2030kv & the second is 4200kv).
If you keep the motors under 2000kv you will get minimum cogging (from my experience anyway)
Being inrunners they will still cog pretty band just due to the design.

An outrunner would be better for crawling, but if you want to use and inrunner, keep the kV low and the pole count high.

Then also be sure to do what the wise JRH says: 'Volt Up, Gear Down'
