Quick lipo question

Ive just bought a 3s zippy. Charged once full charge. Discharged down to 3.3 3.4 3.3. Balanced to 3.8v per cell and came back a week later to charge. Saftey timer hits and the pack reads 4.2 4.2 3.8.
In the past when a cell doesn't charge I've believed it's bad. Hk is telling me it's good and they won't warranty it due to the traxxas connector I've soldered on. Yay.

So basically the third cell will discharge and only charge to 3.83 on balance charge. Safe to say it's dead?
No swelling
No punctures
Wasn't hot
No indents or bends or water

Or should I try to cycle it? I can take off all the wrap and cycle that cell alone if you think it'd help. also if I do that I can chop out the cell if it is toast.

Thanks in advance for the replies/comments/help

Run it a little and try again.

My Venom ProCharger times out after 2 hours, I have to hit it again if I am doing a slow charge.
I can probably turn that feature off, but don't really care.

Hvrc, I agree with the others, run it again. I don't think it's dead, but only time will tell.

Make sure you have your charger set to balance.

Can you set your charger up to charge a 1 cell lipo? Then you could just charge that individual cell through the balance adapter (not sure I'd exceed 2 amps through those small wires, though).

It's an accucell 6, just tried my friends hyperon with the same result. I found the same spec cell in my electronics bin from a 2cell that puffed on one. My pack is a 30/40c and this cell is a 40c. So I've chopped and soldered, going to have him see if he can cycle that cell some on his home made drainer.
The safety timer is mentioned above. 120min and it cuts off. The only time I cut it off is when I slow charge.

I'm done buying 3s packs from hk. Thankfully I've got a few guys that give me their damaged packs or I wouldn't have a cell to put in.

I've ran the moded pack, and it drained perfectly balanced. I'm charging it now to see the out come, so far so good.

Yes, there is an option for 1cell lipo, no it's not through the balance tap as on a single cell there's nothing to balance, it's a traxxas adapter with alligator clips (used for charging the pb batteries)

Thanks for all your help guys. After he cycles that pack some I'll post the results as I also do like a "matched" set of cells.

Im with Duuuuuude, run it for a bit.

when you put a balancer on it does it show that the 2 cells are higher???

how about charging at like .5V and use a balancer on it??? never had one like that before. use a lipo sack just in case

Update!
The single cell has puffed at my friends house! Was being discharged at 30amps and charged at 3amps. He said it started hitting 4v after the second cycle and then swelled a bit.

So it was getting better and then dumped. But it was only taking 9-1000ma on each cycle. Being a 3000 I was expecting at least 2000.

Well, thank you everyone for your advice and help on it!
Looks like I'm staying with the make up cell for awhile.
