I run two of these on my scaler....I destroyed two with use of clear silicone to seal them....So this pair (Yeah I go through these like they are $20 each) I elected to do nothing to...Afterall they got lots of o-rings in them. Well, one tank trap like dunk and the front one started twitching real bad, but the rear one did fine. I think it will be ok once it dries out, but what is the best way to protect these big buck servos in scalers that always hit the water? Liquid electrical tape? Dielectric grease? Some other magical concoction?

I like the plasti dip spray . I put a little dielectric grease around the gear the horn goes on and then hold the servo up by the wire and spray the whole thing . I like to make sure I come up the wire a couple inches as well . MAke sure you cover it all ,places where the case joins together especially ,let it dry add another coat and good to go . I like to use beefy servos in my trail trucks too . |

Dielectric grease on the board, good grease on the gears, followed by a greased up o-ring between the case and the servo horn, and finished with a coating of your choice on the outside of the case.

Liquid electrical tape is really cool too for filling larger gaps in other things like BECs and lead extensions joints. | |

Update: I opened up the shorting servo...Found some water in the lower cover by the board. I dried it all up, and to put dielectric grease on both sides of the board, under the motor, and a dab on top of the motor...Also where the three wires go under the cover above the board. I closed it up and wiped it down with alchohol, and painted it with liquid electrical tape for extra seal. Then I repeated the process for the rear servo. We will find out Sunday if it works. What is awesome is, it was holding water smells a little burnt inside, but works like a champ!!! HoooRahhh Hi Tec!!!!!!! |
