Default Poll ~ To use a BEC or NOT to use a BEC?

So the subject was brought up...how many bec users, and are they casual crawlers or comp crawlers. We're here to find out.

Please read carefully before voting!

Casual crawlers are those who spend most of their time bombing around the yard or various other places. They have no interest in competing, either in scale or the various other comp classes.

Comp crawlers are those who's main focus is on competing, even if it isn't what they spend most of their wheel time doing. This includes scale and comp rigs.

If you feel like elaborating on or explaining your answer, please do.

What is a BEC and why would I need one? My cousins uncles friend used to work at a hobby shop said he has never heard of such a thing.

the bec sends constant voltage to the servo using a programmable bec like the cc bec you can set it to the most commonly used 6 volts or on some servo models, 7.4 volts. if you dont use a bec the voltage will go up and down and you wont get full potential out of your servo. if you use the 7.4v you need to wire directly to your steering servo.

BEC=Battery Eliminator Circuit

I use one in every crawler I own and the few I have built for friends.

The only way to get the full potential out of you High Torque servo

Not 100% true. Many people still run through the rx at this voltage.

Heck my bec is set for 8.4v on a 7950 and I run it through my futaba rx works just fine.

I voted no, cause all my comp rigs have BRXL's.

I ended up having to add a bec to this as well. Internal was not enough. Run them in everything.

I just bomb around the yard and various local spots. I run a BEC on any rig that does not have a BR-XL in it. I've found that with 3S or less on the BR-XL, the external BEC is not necessary. Running the BR-XL with 4S and above really makes the internal BEC twitchy and causes erratic servo operation.

That being said, the comp rig has a BR-XL and a BEC, but only because I like having 7.4V running to the servo.

We have qty-2 2.2 comp rigs (one MOA & one shaftie) and qty-1 1.9 rigs running CC BEC's.
I will NOT leave home without them!

I still run 12th & 10th pan cars as well as a 10th offroad buggy WITHOUT external BEC's. But they don't beat on the steering servo like a crawler does.

CC-BEC in both my "comp" rigs, scalers and bashers never really got BEC's in them unless it was needed.

Lol we have ALOT of traction here. 7950 would stall in quite a few situations.

Ha Ha! You fooled them!

But to answer the question, I use a bec in my comp truck but not in my scaler, but the NEW scaler has a BRXL. I guess I'm a cheater too.
